Forge Integrated Primary School, Belfast

Ethos, Visions and Values

At Forge we firmly believe that we are engaged in work that will affect the future of our whole community. The skills and attitudes our children develop in their early years play an important part in moulding the kind of adults that they grow to become.

Our intentionally integrated approach will help prepare today’s children for a shared future in a more diverse and dynamic society.

Parents and carers are an integral part of our school community. We believe that establishing and maintaining a positive partnership between teachers, children and parents is vital in order to create the best learning environment for our children.

Our pupils and parents represent a diverse cross section of the community in which we are placed and we foster an atmosphere that allows children to explore and celebrate their similarities and differences.

We are a listening school and work hard to accommodate the needs of our school community while keeping the needs of our pupils the driving force behind all that we do.

The school Mission Statement

and school motto

underpin everything we aim to do as a school.

In our school we aim to…

Create a happy, secure and caring learning environment in which excellence in teaching and learning is promoted at every opportunity.

Provide a pastoral care system in which

- every child feels valued and respected in all they do and achieve, and

- positive behaviour, courtesy and good manners are the very foundation of our relationship with others.

Use our indoor and outdoor classroom and enriched curricular experiences to provide a broad and balanced curriculum appropriate to the needs of each child and to promote within the children

  • lively, enquiring minds,
  • independence,
  • the ability to ask questions, make connections in their learning and show initiative,
  • a confidence to try new things and pursue the many windows of opportunity available to them, and
  • a positive attitude towards life and a love of learning.

Develop an awareness of each child’s unique talents, skills and abilities whilst fostering an inclusive ethos which builds a deeper understanding and respect for difference within our school family.

Consult with all of our school community about our provision.

Provide an opportunity for children of all faiths and none, from different social and cultural backgrounds, to be educated together in an environment where all are equally valued.
